INFORMATION & UPDATES

  • Families and Friends of Our Lady of Victory,

On Monday, OLV welcomed Mandi Gerth, author of Thoroughness and Charm: Cultivating the Habits of a Classical Classroom, to lead a faculty development workshop for our teachers. Mrs. Gerth shared thoughtful reflections on classroom culture, the formative power of classroom liturgies, and the responsibility to redeem the limited time entrusted to us with our students. Our teachers came away with practical and inspiring ideas that will help them serve your sons and daughters more effectively in the years ahead.

In her book, Mrs. Gerth offers a compelling defense of a deeply Chestertonian insight: Christian education is fundamentally about the transmission of an authentic Christian culture, not merely the acquisition of information, the development of skills, or the accumulation of credentials to bolster a college resume. For much of the past century, Catholic education has devoted significant time, attention, and resources to these secondary goods, often assuming that the transmission of Christian culture would happen on its own. It does not. This mistaken assumption helps explain why many young people, including graduates of Catholic high schools, ultimately drift away from the faith of their parents.

As Mrs. Gerth reminded us, the transmission of Christian culture depends heavily on the imagination. The imagination is where latent potential begins to take concrete shape. When our students fall asleep at night, what captures their dreams? Is it heroic Christian virtue, or worldly success? And if, as is often the case, both are present, which one holds priority? Are we willing to sacrifice worldly success in pursuit of Christian virtue, or to sacrifice Christian virtue in pursuit of worldly success? The imagination quietly holds the answer for each of us.

St. Thomas Aquinas defines the imagination as “a storehouse of forms received through the senses” (ST I, 78.4). What we place before our students, therefore, matters a great deal. When we immerse them in great books, heroic deeds, serious thought, beautiful art, and living models of mature Christian virtue, we are furnishing that storehouse with forms capable of sustaining them throughout adult life. This is why schools like OLV matter.

Wishing you a very happy start to 2026!

    Peace in Christ,
    Randy

Since we are beginning a new semester, it is time to go through everything that has accumulated in our Lost and Found! We will be placing the Lost and Found out in the hall of lockers for the next week starting Monday, 1/12 until Friday, 1/16. Anything left after that day will be donated, so be sure to look through and find anything you may have misplaced.

As a reminder, used tupperware containers that are left at school will be thrown away at the end of the week, so be sure to double check that you pick up all your tupperware containers after lunch.

Thank you all and enjoy your last week of Christmas!

  • Starting this week, the Quid Novi is no longer going to be accessible though our website. It will only be sent out via email and only to our OLV community. Because of this, it will no longer be password protected.

  • We are excited to work with Kate’s Real Food (KRF) bars to fundraise for our basketball program! KRF produces organic, whole food energy and protein bars with under 10 ingredients in each bar. They are American made and have a mission to make high quality snacks more available, especially for young athletes and those with busy schedules.

    Here’s how the fundraiser works:

    • Each basketball athlete has received their own individual code.

    • When you want to support an athlete you will go to this link:
      www.katesrealfood.com/collections/fundraiser

    • Load up your cart and enter the code for that specific athlete before check-out.

    • Bars are delivered directly to your door from KRF

    • At the conclusion of the fundraiser (~60 days) OLV will receive 25% of all sales made using one of our athletes codes.

Athletes will reach out with a simple email or text with directions and their unique code for you to use. As an extra incentive for our athletes, KRF will donate $200 and $100 gift cards to the top two sellers. If you want an athletes individual code please email Coach Jayce and he will be able to provide them for you, along with a reminder for directions.

  • Dear Families,

I have been looking for opportunities for our girls to be around more religious Sisters this semester. The Sisters of Life let me know they have an event on Saturday, January 31st at 3pm. It is their Revive series. They open up their convent for an evening of prayer. They said students would be welcome at the convent beginning at 3 or 3:30. The chapel will be open for girls to make a holy hour if they would like before one of the Sisters gives a talk at 4:30. This event is open to high school and young adult women.

    Their address is below:
    Mary Magdalene Convent
2771 Zenobia Street Denver, CO 80212

Any of the girls are welcome to attend this event! If you have any questions about this event, you can email me at receptionist@ourladyofvictorydenver.com.

  • At Chesterton Academy of Our Lady of Victory, our students read great books that introduce them to great ideas. These works have the power to shape the mind, deepen the soul, and, in many cases, change the course of a life. It is common to hear parents say, “I wish a Chesterton Academy education had been available to me when I was my son or daughter’s age.”

With that in mind, you are invited to join our Headmaster, Randy Aust, for an evening where you will taste the riches of the great books our students read every year. Each gathering offers a guided reflection on a classic text, along with a lively look at why it has endured, what a busy parent might profit from knowing, and how it can spark conversations that bring truth and wonder into your home. No preparation needed; just bring your curiosity.

Bourbon, wine, and hors d'oeuvres will be served.

Our next Fireside Classics event will be on Thursday, February 12th from 7:30 to 9:00 PM. Randy will be talking about one of his favorite books: St. Augustine's Confessions.

Please RSVP here, and invite your friends to do the same: https://www.ourladyofvictorydenver.com/fireside-classics
