Dear Chesterton Academy of Our Lady of Victory Families,

Watching our new campus slowly coming together over the summer has been one of the singular joys of my almost 20 years in education. I don’t think a day has gone by since we closed on June 8th that we haven’t had parents, students, and siblings on campus working in the sweltering heat, moving furniture, bringing leftover items to thrift stores, organizing closets, installing and painting trim, listing and selling furniture on Facebook Marketplace—the list goes on and on. More than once, parents have inadvertently set off the burglar alarm because they are here doing work late at night. And that’s just talking about what’s happened since the move. Many more of you lent us your backs and your pickup trucks to help pack up our old campus. What a tremendous labor of love this whole move has been, and I’m not sure where we’d be without those countless hours of unpaid help.

As we prepare to officially welcome our students back to campus in a little over two weeks, know that every closet you organized, every load you hauled, and every Hail Mary that you’ve offered for the good work being done at our school will be part of the story we tell for decades.

So, I hope that you’ll pardon a brief Headmaster’s note this week because I can’t think of anything else to say other than THANK YOU. Without your tireless and unceasing efforts on behalf of our school, OLV probably would not exist, and it certainly would not be the school that it is today.

We're reaching out with a special request for this Friday, 7/31, the Feast of Saint Ignatius of Loyola!

So many of you have been busy cleaning, organizing, painting, installing trim, selling, and moving furniture throughout the summer. I have been so moved by the presence of parents, students, and siblings who have been hard at work on campus from sunrise until well past sunset almost every single day (including weekends) since we closed on this campus 9 weeks ago. Rest assured that your generosity does not go unnoticed by this Headmaster :)

We are almost there, but we need some extra hands to get it done in a final push at the end of this week. We're looking for 5-10 strong students who are willing and able to help with lifting and moving furniture. Help is needed both in the morning and in the afternoon, so students can pitch in for a portion of the day or the whole day, whichever works best for your family. We hope that with enough hands, we can move all of the heavy pieces of furniture quickly and efficiently so that we can have everything in place to officially welcome our students back to school in a couple of weeks. Many hands make light work, as the saying goes.

Take a look before your back-to-school shopping so your student is ready for the first day of classes. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back to campus!

Join us on Thursday, August 6 for one of OLV's favorite traditions—a bike ride and beach day at Chatfield Reservoir for our incoming freshmen!

We'll start the ride at around 9:00a.m. at St. Mary's in Littleton (beginning after the 8:15am Mass), then bike the Platte River Trail to Chatfield (about 6 miles).  Once we get there, we'll spend the morning swimming, relaxing, and getting to know one another before heading back.

When: Thursday, August 6, 9:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.
Where: Start and end at St. Mary's Littleton
Who: All incoming freshmen—parents are welcome too!

Bring your bike, helmet, swimsuit, towel, water bottle, and a packed lunch.

Hi OLV Families! I'm excited to share that Mountain Top Therapy Services is offering individual and small group sessions this summer, including an Executive Functioning Workshop and a Writing Workshop, available for elementary through high school students.
