December Movie Club

On December 17th, the OLV movie club will watch Roberto Bengini's 1997 masterpiece Life is Beautiful at the Kolden's house from 6:30pm-9pm. Follow the moving story of Guido Orefice, a Jewish Italian bookshop owner, who employs his imagination to shield his son from the horrors of internment in a Nazi concentration camp. Come enjoy an unforgettable film, popcorn, and some philosophical musings on the movie by our own Grant Reinicke. Space is limited, so please RSVP to lynelle.kolden@gmail.com.

Note: OLV does not endorse these movies and parents should make their own prudential judgment about the appropriateness of the film for their students. A great resource to consult is the IMBd Parents Guide (see here for this month's selection). All movies are selected in conjunction with Grant Reinicke and approved by Randy Aust.

OLV Movie Club

Calling all movie lovers! A group of OLV parents is sponsoring a monthly movie club. Each month (November through March), a different family will host OLV students to watch a movie together. Seats will always be limited, so please RSVP each month if you'd like to join.

This month, we will kick off with O Brother, Where Art Thou? on Thursday, November 13th from 6:30pm-9pm.  In this twist on the story of Odysseus, three escaped convicts search for hidden treasure while pursued by a relentless lawman. Come enjoy a great film, popcorn, and some philosophical musings on the movie by our own Grant Reinicke. November's movie night is hosted at the Holman's house. Please RSVP to jane.holman@gmail.com for further details.

Identity in Vocation- Dominic Polito

  • Chesterton Academy of Our Lady of Victory (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

We invite all parents to join us at OLV on Friday, October 24 at 7pm for a special talk by Dominic Polito. Dominic is a Catholic husband and father who speaks regularly to parents about vocation, identity, and family life, helping them navigate their call to holiness with both spiritual depth and practical wisdom.

This talk will center on our identity as sons and daughters of God and how the Lord unites parents in marriage to live out their vocation. Dominic will also address the ways the evil one seeks to sow division, and he will offer practical insights for embracing God’s call with intentionality, even in the midst of an “overwhelmed” culture.

This evening promises to be both encouraging and deeply grounding in our call as Christian parents.

Part Two: For those who would like to continue the journey, Dominic will also be speaking at Our Lady of Lourdes on Sunday evening, October 27, focusing more specifically on the rite of initiation of sons.

Come and be strengthened in your vocation—all are welcome!
