INFORMATION & UPDATES

  • Dear Friends and Families of Our Lady of Victory,

Today, with my office packed to the gills with furniture as we prepare for our move, I’m thinking a lot about the history of our school. Seven years ago, a small group of courageous parents had the audacious idea to launch a classical Catholic high school in south Denver, and Chesterton Academy of Our Lady of Victory was born. In the seven years since, OLV has grown from an initial class of 18 students to an anticipated enrollment of more than 100 next year.

In the Parable of the Mustard Seed, Our Lord teaches that great things often begin in ways that appear small and insignificant. Throughout history, faithful men and women have come together to build works that glorify God and draw souls closer to His Son. OLV would not exist without those parents who, seven years ago, took a leap of faith and committed themselves to the bold vision of a joy-filled classical Catholic high school in south Denver.

To those families: today, my heart is filled with gratitude for the many sacrifices of time, efforts and money that you made to found this school, back when the reward for your hard work was simply...more work. What a tremendous blessing it is to be able to stand on the shoulders of giants. Thank you!

Our Lady of Victory, pray for us!

    Peace in Christ,
    Randy

  • Many (MANY!) of you have asked how you can help us with the gargantuan task of moving to our new campus over the summer. We are delighted to share a Sign Up Genius with dates and asks. Our major moving day will take place on Saturday, June 13th. Fortunately, due to an incredibly generous benefactor who has offered use of moving trucks and a crew, we will not need to move any major furniture, only boxes of books and other assorted goods from around the building. If you are around, we greatly appreciate your help, especially if you have access to a pickup or a trailer.

    Please sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0548ADA729A0F4C52-64234919-olvs#/

And if you're not around that week to help out, I assure you that there will be plenty of additional opportunities to help us out over the summer :)

    Peace in Christ,
    Randy

  • Dear Parents of Rising Sophomores,

Looking forward to next year, there are two possible math classes: Algebra 1 or Algebra 2. Placements will be made by referencing your students' application materials and whether or not they successfully completed an Algebra 1 course prior to their admittance at OLV. If we have a record of that they will be placed in Algebra 2 next year, if we do not, they will be placed in Algebra 1. For those expecting placement in Algebra 2, it would be wise for your student to spend time this summer brushing up on Algebra 1 skills after taking a break with Geometry. A good resource can be found here, Khan Academy's Algebra 1 materials. At the beginning of next school year a pre-test will be given to the Algebra 2 students to verify placement.

If you expect your student to be placed in Algebra 2 but would prefer them to be in Algebra 1 please let us know so we can take that into consideration.

Please direct any other questions about this to Mr. Buechler and Mr. Aust.

  • It's already time to begin gearing up for XC this fall! Please see the attachments for general information about cross country as well as guidance and details about summer training and practices (including some fun incentives to get running this summer!)

We want to get early registration going because both these sports will have summer communications and begin practicing prior to the official start of the academic school year.
