WEEKLY UPDATES

When we moved to Colorado in 2022, my wife and I were eager to take advantage of the incredible number of national parks within driving distance of Denver. This summer (with older kids who are more resilient minivan passengers) we finally began making that dream a reality. Since May, we’ve packed up the family and visited Yellowstone, the Grand Tetons, the Great Sand Dunes, Zion, and, of course, Rocky Mountain National Park.
More than once this summer, while driving past the geothermal springs of Yellowstone or through the towering canyons of Zion, the words of the great Catholic poet Gerard Manley Hopkins, S.J., came unbidden to mind: "He fathers-forth whose beauty is past change: Praise Him."
We are indeed blessed to live in a world that points back to its Creator. Ours is a world that, even amid the pain, suffering, and brokenness of the Fall, reveals the resplendent glory of a God who loved the universe, and each of us, into existence. To keep that understanding in the forefront of our minds is what it means to have a sacramental vision of the cosmos.
My wife and I lost count of how many times we shouted from the front seat, “Look!”
“Look at those mountains!”
"Look at that bison!"
“Look at that grizzly bear!”
“Look at that sunset!”
I hope that one day my children will learn to see through the beautiful things of this earth and into the mind of the One whose beauty is past change and whose beauty calls forth a song of praise from their lips.
That, too, is the goal of Catholic education: to train our students to see reality with sacramental eyes. It's easy to imagine the authors of the great books that our students read at OLV---Homer, Augustine, Dante, Shakespeare, and Chesterton---all saying the same thing: “Look!” We would do well to heed their counsel.
To Jesus through Mary,
Randy Aust

We are excited for the 3rd annual Victory Through Christ summer camp! This year will look a little different. This year's camp is built to expose athletes to what a true 5-day training program, centered around Christ, would look like. Athletes will spend 3 days inside the gym, doing full body workouts, learning/reinforcing proper movement patterns. The other 2 days will be spent outside, persevering through conditioning and competition. By the end of the week participants will know basic strength movements, conditioning protocol, gym etiquette, and how to structure an effective training program to continue progressing.
The VTC camp is open to all rising 7th-12th graders.
Dates: August 4th - 8th, 2025
Time: 8:30 am - 11:00 am daily
Available Slots: 25 (First come, First serve basis)
